Trip to Cleveland part 2
When we arrived in Cleveland, we spent the first day in the small town of Berea, where Matt's parents live. There is this great park right next to their house that goes on for miles. The kids loved playing there, and so did I.

Three is the new two
Terrible twos? What about terrible threes?
I leaned in to give Baikal a kiss good night and was met by a hand to the face.
"I don't want to be small anymore. I want to be big." Apparently, she has figured out that big people go to bed whenever they want, but children do not. After getting an apology and a time out, I exited quickly before she also figured out that adults eat whatever they want too.

Growing up
Tonight at bedtime Baikal said to me, "I do not want to be a child anymore. I want to be an adult." Yesterday, Rybolt told me (by gesturing) that he did not want to sit in his high chair at dinnertime. Instead, he wanted to sit in a chair just like the rest of the family. These kids are growing up fast. Good thing I have this blog to remember their younger days!

Quotes
As Baikal is getting more aware of the world around her, she is starting to say some very entertaining things. Here is a selection of quotes from the day. Today was Sunday, and the kids go to the nursery while I go to church. I guess they talked about God today because it was on her mind.
This morning
Baikal: Mom, I'm glad that you are my mom.
Me: I am glad that you are my daughter.
This afternoon:
Baikal: Who is God?
Me: Humm...He is someone that loves you and is always there to help you.
Baikal: Where is he?
Me: Humm.....He is invisible.
Baikal: I saw him in church once. He is a man and wears a robe. He lives in the sky and sleeps on the clouds.
This night:
Baikal at prayer: Dear God, thank you for the food at church. It was delicious. God, please help me not to hit Daddy with my shoe. Amen.

Mary's Goat Farm
We had a great time at Mary's Goat Farm. Baikal really liked taking pictures of the goats. Some of her pictures were the best from the day. Rybolt liked the dog that lived on the farm. My favorite was a tie between the nature walk and the cheese tasting. We left with some goat cheese and dirty shoes. It was a great trip!

Such a dazzling coat of many colors...
And when Joseph tried it on
He knew his sheepskin days were gone
Here are some pictures of my most recent project: The Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann. This one is sized at a 2T and for my son. I started knitting this jacket around the anniversary of my grandmother's death. It wasn't intentional, but I couldn't help but to think of her while doing it. She was an amazing knitter and taught me how to knit. I wondered if she had ever tried this pattern, since it was most popular in the 60's. It is wonderful how something as simple as knitting or baking can be passed on from grandparent or parent to child. I wonder what things I'll pass on to my children and grandchildren.

Easter in Charleston part 2
After a morning at the beach, we headed over to meet friends at the Palmetto County Park. We packed a picnic and sunscreen. This is the same park that my brother and I used to work at when we were teenagers. It hasn't changed much. The kids loved climbing up the observation tower and running through the fields. Unfortunately the playground was closed for repair. The kids didn't seem to mind though!
