Easter

Poor Matt! He has been feeling really lousy ever since he got his Lasix-type eye surgery done on Thursday. He was in no shape to see the Easter bunny. He is now back to mostly normal and better vision. Yeah! Baikal and I had a better weekend. We went over to a neighbor's house for an egg hunt. Baikal wasn't sure what to do when she first got there. She saw the other kids picking things up, so she picked up a green play lizard. Soon she caught on to pick up the eggs and put them in her basket. It didn't take long before there were no more eggs in sight!

The Grandparents are here!

It was so great to have Grandmother Bookie come to my rescue last week. I had a stomach flu and she took care of me during her spring break. She also got to spend some great time with Baikal reading and playing. Grandfather Miller came in for the final four games. He and Baikal are showing off their favorite team.

Fun at the Zoo

Aunt Courtney gave us a family membership to the zoo for our birthdays. We have really enjoyed using it!

Pretty in Pink

Baikal was given a beautiful easter dress that was hand-smocked by her grandmother Alice. She looks so pretty in pink!



In other news, Baikal now has six teeth. She can eat an apple: peel and all! I am really enjoying watching her smile.

She is also down to one nap a day. When she is up, she wants to go, go, go! We like going to the park to play and run around.

Palm Beach

We had a wonderful time in Palm Beach Florida. We stayed at The Breakers and it was awesome!!! There was a kid's play area, 24 babysitting, and even a restaurant where the staff would watch your children while you ate dinner. Did I mention the 5 heated pools??? Here is Baikal hiding from the paparazzi.

Amelia Island

This past weekend the Miller family had a great time staying in Amelia Island with friends. We celebrated my 21st...I mean 31st birthday. I forgot to get a picture of the cake, but it was delicious! It was a wonderful way to spend a birthday.

Lost Camera

I have misplaced my digital camera in one of the several bags or strollers or jackets that is now part of my entourage. Pictures will be up as soon as I can find it. In the meantime, you will just have to enjoy the written word. Tuesdays Baikal and I have our neighborhood playgroup. It is a great way to hang out with other moms and kids in the neighborhood. Baikal is one of the youngest, but she doesn't seem to mind. Tuesday nights are also my free night to go do whatever I want while Matt and Baikal get to hang out. Tuesdays are lots of fun.

February and Walking

Baikal is now walking, although she still prefers to crawl. She was up until 10:30pm walking around and around. In other big news, my sister has just moved into the neighborhood! We are so excited to have her within walking distance.

Archiving Blog for 2006 year

It is January, which means that it is time to archive all of my pictures and video over the past year. 2006 produced a lot of footage, so this might take awhile. New additions to the blog will be on hold until Feb. 1, 2007 while I archive the past year's entries. Thanks!

Beth and Paul had a nice long break from school. We got to hang out with them during this time. We went to the grocery store, art museum, and out to dinner. A great weekend!

We had a wonderful Christmas with the Millers. There wasn't any snow, so Baikal never did get to use her snow suit. However, it was nice to be prepared.

One year!

This picture was taken today around the time of Baikal's birthday. She is really enjoying her new gifts from Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather Garvin. The bunny was made by her Great Great Grandmother, Eva Young. What a special gift.

When she was first born, she used to hold her finger in a point. I like to think she was saying, "I'm number one." I can not believe it has been a whole year. I read through my blog today and it is just amazing how much has happened. We have had our share of sleepless nights and screaming fits, but it really is all worth it. Today in the park, Baikal and I met a mom and her four week old baby boy. She said that she was still in the three hour feedings stage. I told her it would get better, because it does. It does not get easier, but it does get better.

First Birthday

Baikal turns one tomorrow! What a wonderful year it has been. We had some people over for cake and company today. It was a nice time. Baikal is feeling much better, however the stomach bug moved on to bigger targets: me and grandmother. Despite feeling not our best, we still had a great day.


"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Baikal...."


She wasn't sure what to make of the cake or her mom.


I put some cheerios on top to help her figure it out.

She was very careful with the cake and did not like getting her fingers sticky from the frosting.

Thank goodness for grandmothers

Baikal has been up all night throwing up. Stomach bug? Food allergy? I am not sure at this point. I feel a bit guilty because when she first started crying around 1 am, I figured it was the usual "waking up in the dark all alone" crying and not the "I am projectile vomiting all over my crib and self" crying. So I waited a bit before checking on her. Ohhh mother's guilt. She finally fell asleep around 6:30 am and slept until 9:00 am. At this time she had some liquids and only threw up a little bit. She is now smiling and crawling around the house, looking for mischief. Thank goodness for grandmothers! My mom is in town and was a big help last night. She has also graciously volunteered to watch Baikal while I shower and catch up on my sleep. Wonderful! All of you moms out there who have spent the night holding buckets and washing sheets deserve a pat on the back. A sick baby is hard work.

Friends

Baikal had her friend, Tejas, over to play. He may only be four months, but he has the disposition of a man twice his age. Fun times!

New phones

You all will be happy to know that Matt gave me an early Christmas gift. New phones with a built in answering machine! Finally, we will be able to complete a conversation without being interrupted by a low battery signal.


It was a two person job to set up the phones. Baikal enjoyed taking them out of the package.


Paul pushed the buttons to make sure the phones worked.

St. Nicholas

Baikal had a good time at the St. Nicholas dinner. She left her shoes outside the sanctuary and after the service they were filled with chocolate. Since she can't have that yet, it was great news for mom!

Aunt Susann's visit

We had a wonderful visit from Aunt Susann. She had fun taking Baikal to the park and babysitting while mom and dad went out on the town.
