Silverware...

Baikal and I were going through some of my jewelry. She was asking, "What's that?"
"A silver necklace, you wear it on your neck." I said.
"What's that?" she said.
"A silver bracelet, you wear it on your wrist." I said.
"Oh, that is silverware." Baikal observed.

NC Coast

We had a great trip to the NC Outer Banks! Here are some of the highlights:

Mom looking classic in a summer photo.

Baikal on the beach.

Rybolt on the beach for the first time.

Baikal flying a kite for the first time.

Rybolt playing in the sand.

Baikal at 2...geographically and chronologically.

To infinity and beyond!

The zoo with two...

I went to the zoo with both kids for the first time a few weeks ago. We met up with our friends Beth and Paul. I told Baikal that if she made it through the zoo with dry pants then she could get one ride on the carousel at the end. It was a success! We had a fun time, but I would suggest that if any of you are looking into buying a double stroller you might not want to get a side by side. When Baikal and Rybolt were both in the stroller, Rybolt kept trying to bite Baikal, Baikal was screaming "NO" and crying, and I was trying to push and punish at the same time. No good. I should have gone with the sit and stand variety.

Junaluska part 5

This year on the way to Junaluska, I did something different. I made a stop at a fun destination each way. With two kids in tow, you need a stop for bathroom breaks and snacks. On the way up we stopped at the Tallulah Gorge State Park. There was a great little museum there where Baikal could run around and Rybolt could crawl around. On the way home we stopped at a place called Goats on the Roof. There were literally goats on the roof on a house. You put some food in a cup and peddled it up to the goats on the roof. Baikal was too little to sit on the bicycle, but her and Aunt Courtney used their hands to pedal the bike.

Junaluska part 4

We took the kids to the riding stables to see horses. Baikal rode on a pony named Ambler. They were more interested in the play set. Baikal had to have a time out, but was quickly back to playing and having fun.

Junaluska part 3

Every year, we stop at Joey's Pancake House in Maggie Valley for a big stack of pancakes (and an even bigger stack of butter). Outside there is a wishing well that Baikal and I stop at before sitting down to our meal to make a wish. Once inside, it is down to business. Here are Baikal and cousin Ella enjoying the pancakes!

Junaluska part 2

Rybolt had a much better view this year at Junaluska...on the outside. Here is the charmer, smiling for the camera.
